Stellar Tote in Wishflower - Project Hop

Hi friends 🌸

I’m so excited to be part of the Wishflower Project Hop, celebrating Wishflower, a fabric collection designed by Rachel Rossi of Designs by RR for Benartex. Wishflower has been out in the world for a little while now, and this hop is all about shining a light on the creative ways makers are using it. Inspired by hope, growth, and everyday beauty, the collection features flowing florals and a soft, versatile palette that works beautifully for quilts, garments, and accessories.

Windy Day & Tallium Tangle in Blue

For my Stellar Tote, I chose Windy Day in Blue and Tallium Tangle in Blue.
Windy Day has a gentle, drifting feel that almost looks like petals caught in a breeze. Tallium Tangle adds a bit more visual texture with its layered floral design. Using both in the same blue colorway created a calm, cohesive look with subtle depth. Blue felt like the right choice for a tote I plan to use often. It’s soft but grounding, delicate but still practical.

Why I Chose the Stellar Tote

For this hop, I couldn’t wait to make my Stellar Tote, one of my go-to bag projects. This pattern lets the fabric take center stage while giving you a roomy, practical bag you’ll reach for again and again. The PDF pattern includes clear instructions to assemble quilted panels and turn them into a bag with structure and personality. It’s a design that celebrates beautiful quilting cottons and invites you to mix prints in a way that feels calm and intentional.

Adding Textures with quilting

Sewing this tote reminded me how much fabric choice shapes a project. The prints really do most of the work, so I kept the design simple and let the florals move. The quilting brought it all together. I started the circular design with a Circle Cut ruler, then finished with my walking foot and my favorite Aurifil Thread, adding texture and movement without competing with the fabric.

I always enjoy seeing how one collection can look completely different depending on the maker and the project. That’s what makes a hop like this so inspiring.
