Heirloom Harmony

Wrapping Up in Red, White, and Blue Simple Patchwork

Heirloom Harmony Quilt

Heirloom Harmony Quilt was inspired by farmhouse living, crafted with cozy fabrics reminiscent of rolling fields and warm hearths, each patch tells a story of simple joys and heartfelt gatherings.

Materials

You need 8 fabrics, divide all fabrics into pairs and decide which fabric in each pair will be Group 1 and which fabric will be Group 2.
- 3/4 yard each from 4 fabrics (Group 1)
Cut each fabric from Group 1:
- (5) 3 1/2" x WOF, and (3) 3 1/2" x 15"
- 2/3 yard each from 4 fabrics (Group 2)
Cut each fabric from Group 2:
- (5) 3 1/2" x WOF, and (2) 3 1/2" x 15"

Making 25 Patch Block

Strip 1A, sew (3) 3 1/2" x WOF from Group 1 together with (2) 3 1/2" x WOF from Group 2, referring to the diagram for placement. Cut into (11) 3 1/2" x 15 1/2". Repeat with 15" strips to make (4) 3 1/2" x 15 1/2". (Total 15 Strip 1As)

Strip 1B, sew (3) 3 1/2" x WOF from Group 2 together with (2) 3 1/2" x WOF from Group 1, referring to the diagram for placement. Cut into (10) 3 1/2" x 15 1/2".

Block 1, sew (3) Strip 1A together with (2) Strip 1B to create (1) 25 patch block, referring to the diagram for placement.
Repeat this step to create a total of (5) Block 1.

The arrows in the diagram indicate pressing direction.

Block 1

Pressing Tip

Sew the block together by alternating between Fabric 1 squares and Fabric 2 squares. Sew the column together first, press seams in alternate direction. For example, press seams upwards for column 1, 3 & 5, and press seams downwards for column 2 & 4.

By pressing seams in alternate direction, the seams will nest perfectly when sewing the columns together. Press seams to one side. The block measures 15.5" x 15.5".

Use the same method as above to create:
- (5) Block 2
- (5) Block 3
- (5) Block 4

Quilt top Assembly

Each block measures 15 1/2" x 15 1/2".
Sew each row together first, then sew the rows together to create 4 x 5 layout. The quilt top measures 60" x 75".

I chose the simple baptist fan for quilting design to give it textures but still let the fabric shine.
Does it remind you of a simpler time, relaxing in a slow-paced life, having a backyard barbecue on a Sunday afternoon with family?

Whether it's draping on a bed or gracing a front porch, this Heirloom Harmony Quilt infuses any space with a blend of rustic elegance and nostalgic charm, bringing out that cozy country vibe.
